So on Thursday last week, I got the crazy idea to invite a bunch of people to our house for the weekend. Some friends from camp and their children plus Mark's parents....so that totaled out to 12 people in the house!
I wish that I would've taken pictures, but we were too busy chasing kids, talking homeschooling, cooking, and cleaning to take pictures.
We let the men cook a meal and they deep-fried everything. Bacon, cookie dough (my favorite), moon pies, twinkies, doughnuts. It was really good, but now I need to de-tox!
All the company left on the Monday morning. After everyone took naps for the afternoon, we headed down to the river for the big show.
Waiting for fireworks.
The kids got bored waiting, so I let them take pictures...here's some of the better ones.

There was an air show too, which of course my airplane boy LOVED! And finally fireworks! My favorite parts....After someone sang the national anthem, Becca said, where's the cake? I asked her what cake, and she said, it's America's birthday, where's the cake? The other thing I love came from a book....We've been reading Ramona the Pest, and in it Ramona goes to Kindergarten, where she is introduced to singing the Star Spangled Banner, which she totally doesn't understand, and calls it the "Dawnzer Song." After really listening to the Star Spangled Banner, Nathan looks at me and says, it's the "Dawnzer Song" you know, like Ramona! And then he got the joke.
